Some of them do not.
It’s under contract so someone liked it.

Is that a sliding barn door?
Okay, then.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:02 |

YOU JUST MADE THIS PERSONAL
But no seriously, barn doors sag like a motherfucker and often require a post close warranty.

Man alive, thats like stick on vents for a bedroom.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:03 |

Yeah I don’t know what he was thinking.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:05 |

I’ve seen them in some really nice applications but to a bathroom?!?!?
No. Just no.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:05 |

It’s really bad.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:06 |

If the white door matched the boiler room door I’d give it a pass, but then all other doors would need a match...
my cousin just installed this very thing, except his the sink is directly in the bathroom, Then toilet then tib aginst back right wall. But his room is darker with a country deer & coyote pelts & antlers, American Indian decor, so a dark door like that is more of a fit.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:07 |

I could see a door like that separating a kitchen from another room. For a master bath? Without a matching entry door? Guh.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:07 |

Dude I see them everywhere. Partitions for theatre rooms, powder rooms, pantries.
Do you know what a barn door really is? An expensive pocket door, moved outside, that is often too heavy for the bar and doesn’t have a decent locking mechanism.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:07 |

The way the rest of the house turned out this thing sticks out like sore thumb. Not to mention it doesn’t exactly create a sound buffering barrier when closed.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:08 |

I know a lot my borrowers and builders are opting for them. I’m sure it was constructed from pallets stolen from behind a Safeway.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:09 |

Also it doesn’t create a sound proof and smell proof “seal”. I don’t care how good your fan is.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:17 |

I kinda want to wire up a little sound box that plays farm animal noises when the door slides open.
MOOOOOOOOOOO!
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:23 |
|
That would be awesome!
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:26 |

It’d be perfect if this was a kids’ room. But if this is the master bedroom, the missus might not appreciate it very much lol.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:27 |

It wouldn’t look as bad if the rest of the room and the other door somewhat matched.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:28 |
|
Agreed
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:33 |

The barn door: eh. Stupid but forgivable.
The cheap ass white Home Depot bedroom door next to the stupid barn door: nope, inexcusable.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:33 |

No bueno
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:34 |
|
I think I’m more annoyed with the lack of a wall to put a dresser.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:36 |
|
I noted his “file” but the thing is selling so what can I do?
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:37 |
|
Yup. You’ve effectively eaten up an entire wall.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:44 |
|
Nailed it.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:44 |
|
A standard pocket door would have done the same thing and allowed for keeping the wall space.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:50 |
|
Yes, yes it would have.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 19:52 |

Fashion a device that hides the voice box of a See and Say and pulls the ripcord when the door is moved
![]() 03/27/2017 at 20:01 |
|
Now, a door that slid into the wall would’ve been pretty neat

Barn doors: The 2010s equivalent of the 1970s mirrored closet doors. Huge fad, looks like shit in a decade, and people will hate them but they won’t be worth the time/effort/cost to replace until they do a full rehab.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 20:16 |
|
Are cows going to live there? Just seems so out of place.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 20:17 |
|
Well you could put the dresser in front and the door runs behind, it’s silly but you might only lose 4"
![]() 03/27/2017 at 21:11 |
|
A modified pocket door would have for sure.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 21:13 |
|
There is some wood work throughout the house they tried to tie in with but it fell short.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 22:19 |
|
No. This is what pocket doors are for. Or, you know. Regular doors. Although the bedroom door looks cheap and flimsy, so maybe just start over haha.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 23:10 |

Where is this house listing?
![]() 03/27/2017 at 23:10 |

It’s a rehab that went with a quick flip. Someone is about to pay 440k for it.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 23:11 |
|
I can’t put that up, but it’s on contract for 440k in the Portland area.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 23:12 |
|
Yeah, that’s what I meant. Don’t want to jeopardize your work. 440k, is that considered cheap or expensive for Portland?
![]() 03/27/2017 at 23:14 |

Thanks. Average for downtown PDX. It’s 2400 sf with 3 beds, 2 bath, and a finished basement
![]() 03/27/2017 at 23:19 |

I’m guessing new construction spec home. A builder is doing one 2 houses down from us here in Seattle and I don’t even want to know how much they’re planning to charge for it.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 23:35 |
|
It’s actually a rehab flip. We lend in WA and OR. I’m in Bothell and yeah this market is nuts. I haven’t seen it like this in the 15 years I’ve been in real estate.
![]() 03/27/2017 at 23:39 |

The prices are shooting up in our current neighborhood fast. But, it’s still cheaper than the Bay Area. We have a house there that rings in at a hefty $1500/sqft. We Californians ruin everything.
![]() 03/28/2017 at 06:36 |
|
Not when I install them, they don’t!
![]() 03/28/2017 at 11:26 |

Recently saw something similar, except in addition to the bathroom barn door there was a barn door on the opposite wall going to the walk in closet. The doors looked nothing alike, and two walls were more or less unusable in the master suite.... Yuck
![]() 03/28/2017 at 12:10 |

Ew. Yeah that sounds awful.
